Here are some quick tips to keep your identity safe in 2009:

• Do not post personal information on social networking sites (MySpace, Facebook, etc.)
• Review your consumer credit reports annually.
• Shred and destroy unwanted documents that contain personal information.
• Don’t leave mail in your mailbox overnight or on weekends.
• Watch for people who “Shoulder Surf” when you’re at an ATM.
• Review your Social Security Earnings Statement.
• Photocopy what you carry in your wallet (besides money).
• Deposit mail in U.S. Postal Service collection boxes.
